About the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds
Located just 30 minutes outside of Helen, the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds have been hosting a series of fun-filled events since 1978. Throughout the year, you can visit the fairgrounds for festivals such as the Appalachian Brew, Que, and Stew (October 22), Mountain Country Christmas (Thanksgiving to New Years), and the popular Georgia Mountain Fair (Summers). This non-profit organization aims to support recreation and education of the community’s youth, provide support and fundraising projects, and develop a general area economy that will be beneficial to all.

Live Performances
The Georgia Mountain Fall Festival will be welcoming a wide variety of bands and musicians this year! From country, gospel, bluegrass, and more, you are sure to be entertained all day long. Here are just a few of the artists who will be performing for you at the festival:

Art and Craft Vendors

Pioneer Village
Take a step back in time and experience life the way the pioneers did! The Pioneer Village is a replica of what old mountain towns used to look like. You and your family will love exploring the mercantile store selling goods from that time period, the single room schoolhouse, and the log home with furnishings. There is also a smoke house, barn, and corn crib modeled to look just like their original predecessors in the 1800’s.
Old Ways Demonstrations
Learn the ways of the mountain folk during these entertaining lessons! You’ll learn from locals how moonshine was made, the processes of corn milling, shake making, cider squeezing, quilting, blacksmithing, soap making, and more! It’s a great family activity that immerses you in an authentic mountain experience.
Georgia’s Official State Fiddlers’ Convention
During the weekend of October 14th-15th, the favored Fiddlers’ Convention will put the skills of talented musicians to the test. Performers of all ages will compete in various musical categories such as bluegrass band, finger-style guitar, flat pick guitar, banjo, and mandolin. Of course, recognition and prizes also go to the best senior and junior fiddlers!
Buddy the Clown
The kids will love a visit from Buddy the Clown! He will be riding in his green car around the fairgrounds, releasing thousands of bubbles in his wake. When he stops to interact with your family, he’s sure to summon a few laughs with his hilarity and awe-inspiring magic tricks.
