1. Anna Ruby Falls
As one of the most popular trails in Helen, GA, the Anna Ruby Falls Trail is an absolute must for your North Georgia getaway! The pathway is completely paved and only .9-miles long, making it ideal for a quick excursion or family activity. Once you reach the falls, you’ll be greeted by a pair of spectacular cascades falling into Smith Creek right beside each other. There are two viewing platforms available for viewing the falls and taking postcard-worthy photos.
2. Blue Hole Falls
Blue Hole Falls is a popular spot during the summertime since its one of the waterfalls in Georgia you can swim in. The hike to the falls is a bit more strenuous than the other regional waterfall trails. However, the relatively short distance and the payoff of viewing the waterfalls makes this journey well worth it! The 2.5-mile hike begins off the graveled Forest Road 283 just north of Helen. Once you reach the fork in the road, veer to the left and trek just a bit farther to reach the falls.
3. Dukes Creek Falls
Dukes Creek Falls is composed of a 150-foot cascade that will surely steal your breath away! To get there, you must embark down a 2-mile trail that winds through a gorge and beautiful forests. At the end of the trail, you’ll find wooden platforms that are made for resting your feet and viewing the falls. If you’re still feeling energized, you may also continue down the trail towards the bottom of the falls for incredible photo opportunities.
4. DeSoto Falls
Legend has it that Spanish armor that once belonged to famous explorer, Fernando DeSoto, was discovered at this location. It may have been left behind during the adventurer’s search for gold. Although you won’t find any sparkling gold in this area, viewing the lovely DeSoto Falls could be considered treasure in and of itself. The 2.2-mile round trip trail to the falls can be a bit challenging, but its short distance and moderate elevation change make it one of the best spots for hiking in Georgia to the waterfalls.
5. Minnehaha Falls
